Histoire Artists as well as craftsmenFrench society at the end of the 18th century was marked by a culture of appearances. The Revolution marked a shift in the way people dressed. This exhibition catalog explores clothing as a social marker through a study of the iconography of the period. The evolution of female silhouettes, the use of fabrics, and the political message conveyed by clothing are all explored.
